FAQ’s
Please read these frequently asked questions before contacting us. If an answer is not found here, do not hesitate to contact us!
What brands of freewheels are compatible with Drive wheels?
Since the hubs used in the drive wheels are manufactured at the Elitewheels factory, freehubs from other brands are incompatible. The hubs used in the Drive wheels passed our 20,000 km test. As long as you ride under normal conditions, the chance of the freewheel being damaged is very low. If you ride in extreme conditions, we recommend that you clean the freewheel every 3000 km.
Is there an internal nipple option?
Internal nipples are not available because carbon spoke nipples are specially treated. The contact angle between the spokes and the spoke holes is extremely important. The spokes must not directly come into direct contact with the rim, otherwise there is a high probability of spoke breakage.
Can I upgrade to 6 bolts?
Yes. Drive uses center lock hubs by default, but if you want to use 6 bolt, contact us and we'll send you an adapter at no extra cost
Do ceramic bearings break easily?
As all of our hubs have high precision manufacturing tolerances, bearing play is significantly reduced. For this reason, the likelihood of bearing damage is extremely low.
What does the rider weight limit include?
The rider weight limit includes the total weight of the rider's bicycle equipment and any other accessories. Please do not exceed this weight.
What tire pressures should I run?
The best inflation pressure for you depends on many factors: rim width, type of bike and tyres, rider weight, road conditions and weather conditions. Please see our user guide for more information.
How strong are your carbon rims? What happens if I break one?
Each of our carbon rims has been rigorously tested before shipment. We are so confident in the quality of our rims that we offer a 3 year warranty on each one. We also offer a replacement policy in the event of an accident. To learn more, please see our warranty page .
What happens if a carbon spoke breaks?
If a carbon spoke breaks, it's not the end of the world. Please see this article for more information.
Are carbon spokes covered by warranty?
Our standard 3-year warranty and our extended 5-year warranty cover carbon spokes if damaged by non-external factors. This means that they are only covered in the event of a manufacturing defect. For more information on our warranty .

At Elitewheels, we design our Drive wheels to meet the needs of professional cyclists. In order to deliver the best performance, we incorporate our own UNI carbon fiber, a specific ratio of T800 and T1000 carbon fiber, which makes the rims not only strong, but also exceptionally light and stiff. The Drive 50D's U/V shaped rim profile was chosen to make the rim both aerodynamic and stable in windy conditions. The 21mm inner rim of the DRIVE 50D allows the use of wider tires, which provides more comfort and grip.
What sets the Drive 50D apart from most other wheels is its use of high modulus carbon spokes. These are 3.3mm wide aero bladed spokes, offering 7% more lateral stiffness over equivalent steel spokes. The carbon spokes are mechanically fixed, offering the advantage that they can be ground and maintained like ordinary steel spokes. Anti-loosening technology is also incorporated into the spoke nipples. The threads integrated into the nipples give them a double locking effect.
To get the most out of the carbon fiber spokes, we specifically designed the hub with high flanges to further increase lateral stiffness and improve handling. Elitewheels manufactures its own high-precision hubs with Fanuc CNC machines, which can machine to tolerances of just 0.02mm. This not only reduces rolling resistance, but also increases bearing life.
The front hub of the 50D uses two 6803 mixed ceramic bearings. The rear hub uses one 6903 and three 6803 mixed ceramic bearings. These large bearings provide better rigidity. Using mixed ceramic bearings will give you a better performing bike, saving you valuable watts.
